Minor in Environmental Hydrology

In developing a minor plan of study, the student should develop a thematic sequence of courses in one of these areas of emphasis which complements the major degree program. Some examples of thematic areas include groundwater hydrology, environmental water quality, surface hydrology, global change, water resources policy, and water resources engineering. In order to develop a theme appropriate to the student's major, selection of minor elective courses should be made in consultation with an advisor.

Refer to the University Catalog for a listing of requirements.

The department offers a minor in Environmental Hydrology (EHY) with 3 different areas of emphasis: General, Geohydrology, or Water Resources.

Minimum Total Units: At least 18 semester units are required.

Minimum HWR Units: Of the 18, at least 13 units in HWR are required.

Lower division Restrictions: Tier 1 General Education courses cannot be used to fulfill minor course work requirements; however, Tier 2 courses can be used for the Water Resources emphasis.

Elective Courses: Advisor (ADVR) course work must be water-related; for example, courses in agricultural and resource economics (AREC), atmospheric science (ATMO), chemistry (CHEM), civil engineering (CE), microbiology (MIC), political science (POL), renewable natural resources (RNR), soil, water, and environmental science (SWES), or watershed management (WSM) might be included if appropriate to student's area of interest.
